A new month is here, which brings with it new and exciting events in the ruggedly charming city of Duluth. The ice is still plentiful and the temperatures are still cold outside, so what better time to explore some of Duluth’s top indoor attractions? One of them happens to be pretty nearby, just a 4 minute drive from the A.G. Thomson House Bed and Breakfast. That is Glensheen Mansion, the most visited historic home in Minnesota. The mansion itself, perched on the shores of Lake Superior, is extraordinarily beautiful, featuring 39-rooms built with remarkable 20th century craftsmanship, and situated on 12-acres of gardens and bridges. Tours of Glensheen Mansion are delightful in and of themselves, but there are also a series of Wednesday night events that change on a monthly basis, and they make for a perfect evening out. Book your room at our luxury Bed and Breakfast in Duluth today.
Tours at Glensheen Mansion
There are a variety of tour options at Glensheen Mansion, some of which change on a seasonal basis. The most basic and popular tour is the general admission tour, which is a self-guided tour option through the lower level, first, and second floors of the mansion. The Full Mansion tour features the same self-guided tour as general admission, but extends to the Third Floor and Attic, which shows off the Congdon Boys’ rooms and others that have recently been restored. If you want to get a little adventurous, try the 21+ Flashlight tour, which includes access to the mansion and a branded Glensheen Flashlight Tour pint glass (with sippy cover), allowing you to enjoy adult beverages throughout your experience. You’ll also get to head into the newest space available to the public for tour, The Carriage House Living Room. The Nooks & Crannies Tour provides access to a behind-the-scenes tour of previously restricted areas and secret cabinets within Glensheen Mansion, while the Servants Tour provides a glimpse of Glensheen Mansion from the perspective of a 1910 staff member. For the most comprehensive tour possible, opt for the Premiere Tour or the Director’s Tour.
Wednesday Night Events at Glensheen Mansion
