We know these past several weeks of social distancing have been a challenge for most of us. That’s why it’s more important now than ever before to focus on fun things coming up in your life in the coming months. Hopefully, your plans include a visit to our Duluth Bed and Breakfast and Spirit Mountain, Duluth’s premiere destination for adventure.
Most people know of Spirit Mountain as a winter destination for skiers and snowboarders, but it’s actually so much more than that. Like most of Duluth’s best attractions, Spirit Mountain is open for 4 seasons of fun. To get started on your summer adventure, all you need to do is schedule in some “you” time at our historic Inn. Though we aren’t yet open for guests, we’re still taking advance reservations, and are ready to help you make the most of this summer. Book your room with us today!
Things to do at Spirit Mountain in Duluth
Spirit Mountain is a great place to ski and snowboard, and we love sending guests there during the winter. However, the fun doesn’t stop there! Spirit Mountain is also home to an incredible network of trails and an adventure center. Like most of the businesses in Duluth and around the country, Spirit Mountain and all of their great offerings are closed and will remain closed until safe and approved to re-open.
In the meantime, to aid you in planning your adventures in Duluth later this summer and even into fall, here are some of our favorite things to do on Spirit Mountain.
Spirit Mountain Adventure Center
The Spirit Mountain Adventure Center is a great way to spend an afternoon in Duluth, especially if you want to feel like a kid again. There are a number of great attractions at the Adventure Center, including:
- The Timber Twister, an alpine coaster that races along a 3200-foot elevated track. As you descend down the mountain, you’ll enjoy some pretty great views of Duluth. If you want a really unique experience, try riding the coaster at night!
- A Zip Line, that soars 700 feet through the treetops.
- A scenic chairlift ride, for those of you who just want to enjoy the views without so much of the adrenaline-pumping fun. It’s a great way to see this view of Duluth when there’s no snow on the ground.
- an 18-hole disc golf course that is accessed via the Superior Hiking Trail. The course starts at the base of the ski hill, then winds its way through the forests and open terrain of the area.
- Great access to part of the Superior Hiking Trail, and miles upon miles of hiking.
Spirit Mountain is one of the best destinations for mountain biking gin the state of Minnesota, let alone the best trails in Duluth. In fact, Spirit Mountain has been a pioneer in gravity-based mountain biking and has been leading the way in making this type of mountain biking fun and approachable for a variety of riders.
The mountain biking trails here are consistently ranked in the top 5 of trail networks in the Midwest. What’s better are the views offered from here of Lake Superior and the St. Louis River. This network of trails also connects up to the Duluth Traverse, which offers riders more than 85 sensational miles of mountain biking.
