Glensheen Mansion is the centerpiece to the beautiful and historic Congdon Estate. The mansion is an impressive 27,000 square feet and sits on 12-acres of beautifully landscaped lawn and gardens. There are a total of 39 rooms in the mansion, many of which you are able to visit during their guided tours.
Glensheen Mansion was built for the Congdon family, who were responsible for establishing iron mining operations in the area, between 1905 – 1908. But these great tours aren’t the only thing waiting for you at Glensheen Mansion. They also offer a regular series of Wednesday events during the peak season, along with other public events throughout the year. For the month of March, Glensheen is offering every guest that takes a tour the opportunity to go snowshoeing–a great way to spend the final days of winter in Duluth before spring officially arrives!
Once the snow does finally melt, you’ll want to take the time to explore the estate’s beautiful gardens and landscaped grounds. The original landscaping was done in a way to preserve the original character is this stunning lakeside estate, with the addition of a number of formal gardens which descend from the house towards the lake.
