Things don’t slow down during winter in Duluth, but it’s always nice to have something great to do that’s inside and protected from the harsh elements outside. Upcoming Performances at The Duluth Playhouse
We love relaxing and taking in the winter scenery in Duluth. Whether you choose to walk along the Duluth Lakewalk, stroll through Canal Park, or cross country ski or snowshoe through Duluth’s many parks and trail networks, we think you’ll be amazed by the wondrous beauty that is Duluth in the winter. Come evening, though, it’s time to warm up and head indoors to The Duluth Playhouse, which is home to three distinct theatrical venues: The Playhouse Family Theatre, The NorShor Theatre, and The Underground Theatre. Here are the current and upcoming highlights for the Norshor and Underground Theatres:
The NorShor Theatre
The Main Stage at the recently renovated and stunningly beautiful NorShor Theatre is where you’ll find Broadway shows and musicals, and other large-scale productions. Its the most popular of the performance venues at The Duluth Playhouse. Currently on the Main Stage is Steel Magnolias, which ends on February 9, 2020.
The next major performance at the NorShor Theatre will be Monty Python’s Spamalot, which runs from March 19 – April 5, 2020. That performance is followed by The Mousetrap in May and The Who’s Tommy in July. The NorShor Theatre also hosts a number of concerts and classic films, and it is open for special events and tours.
The Underground Theatre
The Underground Theatre, located on the ground floor of the historic Duluth Depot, is a one-of-a-kind performance space that seats up to 150 people. It’s a much more intimate venue and brings high-quality productions of new scripts, classic plays, and musicals to life. Currently on this Duluth Playhouse stage is The Arsonists, which will play until February 29, 2020. From March 26 – 28, the Underground Theatre will be hosting the What She Said Festival, followed by Macbeth: Dinner Party from April 16 – 25.
In late May the Duluth Playhouse will bring us Around the World in 80 Days, followed by The Wild Party and the Pride Festival in August.
