Film Festival Guide
The Duluth Superior Film Festival is all about celebrating great music and film from a range of genres, including international, American independent and regional films. In total, the film festival spans 5 days, from June 1 -5. Throughout this time, film festival goers will not only enjoy exciting films and listen to popular musical acts, but they’ll also get to listen to visiting filmmakers discuss their works and attend various events, panels, discussions, and parties happening at venues throughout the city. Entrance to the festival is free, so there’s no excuse not to explore to your hearts content.
The opening film at this year’s Film Festival is local Minnesota-filmed The Seventh Fire at Clyde Iron Works, followed by a reception with appetizers and free beer provided by Lake Superior Brewing. The Centerpiece Film during the festival is American Fable, and the final closing piece is After the Reality, both enjoying their Minnesota premiere at the Duluth Superior Film Festival. Other films in competition for the 2016 DSFF Lepus Award include:
- 2021 with director David Ash in attendance
- Minnesota 13: From Grain to Glass
- Superior with director Edd Benda in attendance
Whether you’re a devoted film-lover or a passive movie goer, the Duluth Superior Film Festival is a wonderful excuse to celebrate the spectacular films being brought to this years’ event.
