“Visit Duluth spokesman Gene Shaw said the tourism office is working to bring as many as 10 ships here next summer for an event that he predicts would be Duluth€™s largest in more than 30 years. €œIt could be the biggest event in the state of Minnesota outside of the State Fair,€ he said.

Come visit Duluth, Minnesota today, then make your plans to stay with us at the AG Thomson House for this incredible event! See you soon!

AG Thomson House HammockWe experience many engagements here at the AG Thomson House, but it’s a rare occasion to actually witness one. Today was one of those rare occasions. While preparing breakfast and visiting with our guests, we just so happened to look out the dining room window at our beautiful grounds and at the incredibly comfortable hammock , that’s nestled between two towering pines with Lake Superior in the background. This is where we caught the adorably romantic proposal occuring. It was a lovely morning in Duluth and at our Inn, the view of Lake Superior clear and spectacular, and happily the ideal time and place to propose!

Summer kick off in Duluth!

June 1st, 2009 by Angie Allen

Fox at the AG Thomson HouseBaby Fawn at the AG Thomson House! With the trees in bloom, and great weather ahead, summer is on its way.   Area attractions are open once again to welcome visitors back to our great City.  From the Glensheen Mansion, S.S. William A. Irvin, North Shore Scenic Railroad, to many, many more fun adventures and attractions in our beautiful city.  The Chester Creek Concert series will begin in Chester Bowl beginning on June 2nd and Movies in the Park at Leif Erikson Park begin on June 19th.

We are looking forward to a wonderful summer of opening our home and hospitality to guests choosing to visit Duluth and the AG Thomson House; which we are very appreciative!   Our wildlife around our two acres is ready to greet you as well.  Joining our baby fawn is our most recent visitor; a young fox who is routinely annoyed by the crows.  Poor thing can’t get a  break!  We are so fortunate to have such  beautiful and large grounds in the heart of Duluth to offer our guests.  There is always a wonderful spot to lounge whether it’s the hammock that calls you by name, or one of the many adirondacks scattered around the grounds.

We have had a wonderful “quiet season” and kept quite busy around here.  Our Spring was terrific as well and we kicked off the summer season with a houseful on Memorial Day weekend.  Gorgeous!Gorgeous! With the unofficial “official” summer kick off that occurs with Grandma’s Marathon on June 19th, now is  a great time to head to Duluth and beat the crowds that will be in full force.  You will get a second taste of Spring with our flowering trees, bulbs, etc.  in bloom.  We should see our Iris’ very soon, and before you know it the Hydrangeas will be gracing us with all their glory.  Our veranda will offering an incredible and restful niche for watching flora and fauna!

So head up to Duluth; we are here to welcome you home!
