Thomson House is an historic Bed & Breakfast offering the finest in travel lodging whether you're looking for a quiet, romantic weekend or attending one of the big local events like the Bay Front Blues Festival or Grandma's marathon. Our beautiful Duluth, MN Inn offers guests four uniquely decorated suites in the main house, plus an additional three exquisite guest rooms in the remodeled carriage house located just across the driveway from the main house.

The suites in the main house are named after four previous owners of this historic home. The Ryerson Suite is named for the family of William Ryerson, who were the original owners of the house. The Ryersons hired Edwin Hewitt, a Minnesota native and highly acclaimed architect, to build the home in 1909. This famed builder of several historic and beautiful buildings in the Twin Cities is the man for which the Hewitt Suite is named. Later, in the span of 40 years between the mid-1920s and the 1960s, the Salyards family made this house their home, and the Salyards Suite honors this family. Finally, the Mayors Suite is named for one of the most recent residents of the A.G. Thomson House, John Fedo, who served as the mayor of Duluth from 1986 to 1989.

Of course history is not the only thing you'll be able to experience during your stay at the A.G. Thomson House. The Bed & Breakfast is situated in an ideal location, which allows our guests to experience all that Duluth, Minnesota has to offer. During your stay, you can hike the Superior Hiking Trail, one of America's top 10 trails as named by Backpacker Magazine. You can bike the Willard Munger State Trail, or experience the breathtaking views of Lake Superior on one of Duluth's cross country ski trails. If nature isn't your idea of a great getaway then you can enjoy the many museums and historic locations found within minutes of the Inn.

Though there may be plenty going on outside of the B&B, we are dedicated to offering our guests all the comfort and amenities you come to expect from an historic Inn. Complete breakfasts are served each morning, though we'll be happy to serve you a continental breakfast in your room.
